As expected, the finale of Power Rangers Dino Super Charge created a lot of DRAMA in the fandom. Some people hate it with passion while others defend everything about it. I will try to organize my thoughts about both Dino Charge seasons and my opinion about the Neo-Saban era so far.
When Judd Lynn was announced as the new executive producer I'm pretty sure everyone in the fandom was more than happy. He was involved with many of the seasons most of the fandom love so the expectations were high. The season premiered and that first episode was amazing and it was so promising. It felt fresh after 4 years of... well... mediocrity. At the end Dino Charge had it flaws but still I really enjoyed it. I was expecting things to get better with Dino Super Charge.
Dino Super Charge premiered and it was alright until we started to get fillers and filler and more fillers. To be really honest, I don't get why you will make fillers when your episode count is only 20. It doesn't make sense to me. Everything felt so rushed at the end, we even got a filler 3 or 4 episodes before the finale. I just don't understand. For me Dino Super Charge ended up being very disappointing. I really believed in Chip when he said the upcoming episodes were going to be great. Sadly they weren't. What happened? I don't know and we may never know.
Personally I didn't liked the finale. Unless it is confirmed the seasons are set in a different universe, I don't like the idea of altering the continuity the show itself has created over the years. That continuity it's probably the thing the fandom cherish the most and attempting to it will anger them, or at least most of them because of course there are people defending the finale trying to justify every step Chip takes with the show. I mean, do you remember all the drama with Super Megaforce and the New Powers? And all the attacks towards Tzachor?
I do think Dino Charge was a step forward for the Neo-Saban era compared to Samurai/Super Samurai and Megaforce/Super Megaforce but after Dino Super Charge I think now we are in the same place we were at the beginning. I really don't know what is happening behind the scene with the show, I can only speculate and provide various theories of what I think is happening. I will probably do that in a future post. As it was pointed out in this article, since Saban Brands took the franchise back it seems they are trying to copy so bad the same formula from 1993 and for me that's a huge error. As many other fans has said, children's tv has evolved a lot and Power Rangers needs to do the same.My expectations with Ninja Steel are currently super low, almost non existent. I just really hope Ninja Steel ends up being an amazing season, I really want that to happen and I know Chip is capable of doing that. I just think the problem is mostly Saban Brands and while they are in charge I don't expect things to get better.
